I'm thinking of the second week of October in the Eastern Sierra. The usual places. Hoping for good timing. Let's meet up!
Jeffrey, I'm staying in June Lake Oct 7-11. Let me know if you want to meet up. ;-)

This morning along US 2 just west of the continental divide. There were more leaves changing near the divide than on either side near the park entrances. Not much changing in the St. Mary's area yet.

Nothing more irritating on certain photography boards than a few people posting fall color images and purposely omitting when they really took the pictures, when I know darn well they are from last year or before.

Well, having said that, making a long round trip up to Salt Lake City and back yesterday I did notice the trees were turning yellow in several places. Ben would know better than me, if he can see through all the smoke...

I see the hillside behind my house turning, but have not bothered to go into the high country yet, the sky's are not photogenic.

Last week in Tahoe had no color. However we have had some cold nights and clouds so wondering if the show has started. Anyone been up in the eastern Sierra lately?

I drove the Alpine Loop today around Mt Timpanogos. The aspen look healthy, and mostly green. The oak seem a bit stressed and the healthy oaks are still green while a very few have turned and many just look dried out.

This is at the summit at 8060 feet.

Here are a couple near the Sundance resort at around 7000 feet.

Colorado - driving on the I-70 from Denver over the Rockies and it’s peak color every where along it. There are lots of good photo ops just off the I-70. I am not stopping today to shoot, but have in the past.

An iPhone shot by Silverthorne.

The eastern side of the Columbia River Gorge is starting to turn (a bit early) but this may be drought induced. Only barely getting started from Cascade Locks heading west.

The following are all iPhone shots

Kebler Pass area CR 12- probably 70 to 80% peak. The whole drive on CR 12 from Hwy 133 all the way to Crested Butte is mostly peak, just some green left.

Crested Butte - lots of color around there. The distant slopes on the peaks seemed to be mostly stripped bare. But still lots is cooler lower down.

Heading south out of Crested Butte on the way to Gunnison had tons of photo ops with again 70% peak color.

Dallas Divide in the San Juan mountains in SW Colorado - it’s at peak color now. The scrub oak are 100% and the aspen are a mix of lime green, yellow and bare.

There are some storms coming in, so no telling how the Aspen will fare.

An iPhone shot.
