Falling Water

I think I have seen these falls before :)

Not your very nice take on them however. You had some excellent light on these with the fall colors on the maples.

Lovely. Perhaps it was a flat featureless sky but a little detail would help. The trees top left are leaning in, a little selective Warping would straighten them. Of course they may actually lean. What is the original size of this file with a 16 shot stitch? Ken

Ken - the falls are Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge. You need to almost pray for overcast featureless skies when you shoot there or the sky will completely blow out the picture. These falls are on a north facing cliff so the skies above the top of the falls are not your friend. These falls are just over a 1/2 hour drive from my house.

Thanks for the info Alan. Aren't you lucky with this stunning location so close. I know how difficult it can be to handle the dynamic range of bright sky above landscapes in deep shade but it is possible although detail may just pull your eyes up away from the real star of the show. Ken

Hi Alan,
Yes it was a nice day for the waterfalls, the slow mist/rain but not rain rain type of day. Thank you for the kind words.

Hey Ken,
Couple of trees on the left naturally lean inwards, double checked and a few trees on the left are upright. The file size is little over a 1.2GB.

Thank you for viewing and commenting!

Hey Sunny, keep on tearing up the processing!

I like that this was shot in the fall. I think the fall colors help add depth and also a bit of additional interest to the waterfall.

One thing in particular that I like is how that large trunk/root at the bottom of the falls kind of disappears. That's one of those objects I just don't understand why the rangers haven't hauled it away. It's been there for years, and it's so unsightly and nonphotogenic. It's one of those things that bugs me to know end. So, it's great to see how your lighting/processing renders it into the ground enough that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, and if it wasn't a pet peeve of mine, I am sure no one else will even notice it.
