Figs, the Fruit of Summer

Oh boy, my fig tree is just loaded this year! Mom & I put up 40 jars of jam & have given away 10 pretty full bags of figs and more coming. Will be picking for the next couple weeks then the second (wasted) batch will ripen. Wasted because the second batch never gets big enough & is too seedy to do anything with other than feed wild birds that choose to eat them!

I used to really like figs (love your shot of them, (love your shot, Darcy), but I got a little creeped out when I learned that the female wasps die inside of them if they crawled into a female fig to lay eggs.
