A friend and I had to hang around quite a while to get this color, still at the Buckley Ponds near Bishop on the 15th.
A full 30 minutes after sundown, and it was getting pretty dark, this is a 30 sec exp, to get what color and detail there was to see.

Yep, gotta be patient! Often it's not 'til half an hour after sunset for the color to show up, as it was this evening.

Love the blanket of colour and its reflection. I agree with you about timing, Barry. I remember shooting a sunset at Netarts in Oregon when the crowd left the beach the second after the sun's dish disappeared. Several asked us why we waited. The best colour came half an hour later! This has often happened, in my experience, at sunsets at Ruby where the colour intensifies hugely over time!
