First Light On Coal Mine Canyon

I love the banding in the exposed strata. The greens along the bottomlands helps this scene out a lot as well. Must have been spring?

Nice shot. I like the composition with the deep canyon and the leading line snaking back through the picture. The cyans juxtaposed with the strong reds on the right canyon walls under a magenta sky gives it a very surreal appearance to me.

Very nice work here Guy. Coal Mine Canyon is a really cool area and a fun place to shoot. There is an almost sacred feeling when shooting there, one where I know I am often very careful as to where I step even. You really captured some nice light and colors in this.

I looked at this forum several times yesterday and never saw this post. I have had that happen several times before. Sorry I missed this one because it is a fantastic image.

Well, obviously you didn't miss it...just a little late to the party. :D And since you were there with me, you certainly didn't miss the real thing! Thanks Doug.

Thanks for the great shot. I'm heading down that way in March and will have to go there. How far did you have to hike for this shot?
