First Light On Coal Mine Canyon

Coal Mine Canyon on the Navajo/Hopi Reservations near Tuba City is probably my favorite canyon in AZ...especially when the light is right.

A permit would be recommended for this particular area. Although, that may not mean much as the locals may not care about that piece of paper and tell you to leave anyway. Fortunately, I've yet to have an encounter here.

Nice shot. I like the composition with the deep canyon and the leading line snaking back through the picture. The cyans juxtaposed with the strong reds on the right canyon walls under a magenta sky gives it a very surreal appearance to me.

Very nice work here Guy. Coal Mine Canyon is a really cool area and a fun place to shoot. There is an almost sacred feeling when shooting there, one where I know I am often very careful as to where I step even. You really captured some nice light and colors in this.
