Flaming Gorge Sunrise #2

I was very focused on the western view during my sunrise session at Flaming Gorge but at some point I realized I had to look the 'other way' from my previous compositions and so I scurried over to another viewpoint and got set up quick enough to capture this view. The sun was really just peeking through this opening which proceeded to close up over the next few minutes. This was my favorite of the images I took in that direction, bracketed and processed to mitigate the extreme dynamic range while hopefully still keeping a natural look akin to what my eyes were getting out of the scene.

Comments and critiques welcome.

Very nice and some good work with the range of light you were working with - not an easy task with foreground shadows.

Very cool scene and worth turning around for! I'd probably take another look at white balance. On the one hand, we aim for special light in order to get some great colors. On the other hand, there is a pretty clear magenta cast on the ground. I'd probably try to scale that back a little bit.

That's very nice Mike!

So that's looking East. Where was this at? it looks like it could be perfect for the Milky Way.

Thanks Kyle, I'll try playing with that.

Jim,

This is one overlook over from where the other sunrise image was taken. A nice overlook with a great view and literally not another person in sight at least at that time of the day.
