Flower Power - Community Thread

Each Sunday I am going to start a thread on flowers. I'll start off each thread with a poem or statement about flowers from famous people, who like me, have also been fascinated with flowers. The quote for this week is from Georgia O'Keefe: "Nobody sees a flower really; it is so small. We haven't time, and to see takes time - like to have a friend takes time."

I have been in love with flowers since I was a little boy. I hope you will enjoy joining me in this endeavor.

Today let's post a favorite flower image. Mine is from the Antelope valley in Southern California. I love seeing sweeping vistas. This image has California Poppies (orange), Owl Clover (purple), Goldfields (yellow) and Pigmy Lupines (blue).

I am going to go with one of my favorite flowers in the Pacific NW - Rhododendrons. In this case a nice cluster of different bushes to present a rainbow of colors:

That is one of my favorite flowers, John. When I was living in Illinois there used to be woodlands with their floors covered with Great White Trillium.

These are one of my favorites too, Alan. If you want to see beautiful displays of rhododendrons you have to go to the Master's Tournament. They are outrageously beautiful.

This is a beautiful job on this columbine, Ken. The focus is perfect, the colors are great, and the background is outstanding.

This is a sunflower I found in a field of them in South Dakota. It seems growing sunflowers has become rather popular in the upper midwest over the last few years.

Great job on the focus, Ken -- it's a long ways from the tip of the Columbine to those rear leaves. Beautifully done!

Monica this is focus stacked as I wanted front to back sharpness but wanted the background to be out of focus. The difficulty was dealing with the slight breeze moving the bloom. Ken
