Free Solo Inspired Post

My wife and I went to see Free Solo and that is what inspired the posting of this image of El Capitan. It is an incredible documentary of free climber Alex Honnold and if you have the chance to see it you definitely should do so. It is only showing in a few theaters so you might have to search for a theater near you.

Very nice shot of El Capitan Doug. It feels a bit over processed, too much highlight recovery? With the shadows and the light on El Cap, it makes for a tough exposure.

I will have to see if that movie is playing around here anywhere.

This almost has a film feel to the colors. Someone doing a solo climb up that face would be difficult to spot from this distance.

It's an old film image but it shows the rocks so well I decided to use it for this purpose. I know it is flawed. Actually, it was the shadows that were difficult to recover because they essentially went black on Fuji Velvia 50.

You re right, Alan. This was on Fuji Velvia 50 film and the darks went black. I didn't process before but want to use it here to show the face of El Capitan.
