Fremont River Ford

I normally go round the Cathedral Valley from the Cainville side and exit at the Ford. We had planned to camp at the Cathedral valley campground and come out the next moring via the Ford. But instead we returned to Cainville after getting our Cathedral Valley sunset so that we could do Skyline the next nmoring.

To show Rick the rest of the Cathedral Valley road, we attempted to enter via the Ford and drive up to the lower overlook. But there were at least 7 roads forking off to the ford road after we got on it. Most were campsites. The Ford road eventually takes you back onto 24 where you have to drive 5 miles to find a turnaround.

The second time we tried, we found a road that led to the river. It had a very steep drop into the river and my hitch dug a furrow into the road. But we got into the river and as we drove downstream we passed the real Ford entrance.

So here is a shot of my exiting the correct Ford on the way back.

By the way, this is from Ricks Fuji MF camera.

Very cool Ben!

Yeah, that ford location is confusing as you are right there are a lot of roads that you think are leading to the ford and it's just a camping area instead.

Let Rick know we are looking forward to seeing some of his photos from the trip too.

Jim, you may find my processing somewhat boring. I don't really pursue the fine art look unless it just happens. :)

Regarding the image, I should have asked Ben to back up and come at me faster to kick up more splash. The park service measured the depth at 11.5 inches, deeper than it looks in this image.

Hey Rick, I have been showing my shots, and they have been photoshopped to some degree. I am not oppesed to making them look more dramatic than in person, I strive to make them look possible, IE they could have looked that way. It would be fun to see your more accurate takes on the very same scenes. Feel free to add to my posts, or since they have mostly scrolled off the page, just add them as new posts. We are an easy crowd here and nobody will be able to say yours are fake.
