Todays Focus will be - Mt Rainier!

We have had some cool photos posted from there this week, so let’s add more to this thread.

Being on the road I need for someone to add a photo to get us going. I can add a few later this afternoon or evening when I get my laptop back out.

Thanks,

Jim

One of my favorite subjects to both photograph and climb/ski. I'll add a different perspective from the standard landscapes - all taken on the mountain. Most of these are slide scans from BITD.

My first time up in 1968 (I'm on R) note Mt. St. Helens before it blew in the distance.

Sunset from Camp Sherman (recent digital)

Sunrise from high on the Emmons Glacier

Dawn on the Carbon Glacier

Wow - those are views I have never seen before of the Rainier area. I was scratching my head over the first image until I read that I was looking at St. Helens before it blew it's top off.

Stunning set - thanks for sharing them.

I used to teach a field geology course in the Pacific Northwest and Mt. Rainier was one of my favorite stops. On one trip it rained and was foggy for five straight days. There was so much water I was actually floating on my air mattress in the tent. Nonetheless, I still love this area and I am planning to go back again this August.

This is Reflection Lake. I opted to eschew the reflection because I liked the dead tree instead.

This is Paradise Meadow just after the morning clouds began to dissipate to reveal the mountain.

Rainier is practically my backyard. Have quite a few over the years and so hard to pick a few. Here is a quick selection.

How lucky are you to live within a "stones throw" of such a beautiful place. Great images, Jameel.

This is a TS-E shifted panorama from the Reflection Lakes area.

Nice mood in this one, Alan.

These are great, Jim. I always wanted to climb Rainier but never could carve out the time. Now I can do it vicariously with your images.

The wildflowers are really special at Rainier. Second one is my favorite.

That's a cool image of Pasque Flower seed heads (locals call them a mouse on a stick), Jim.
Thanks Doug! Yeah, I loved the moist conditions. It was so foggy I thought it was cool having the OOF waterfall then in the background since it was so foggy I couldn't get a sharp shot of it anyway.

Some superb images from this area. The wildflower enhanced shots are entrancing. I don't have any particular ones to post so will just sit back and admire these lovely examples!

Sorry I'm so late to the party.
I had to dig deep to find this one, from early Sept, '09. After a wonderful week with the PNW gang I was on the way over to Spokane to visit my daughter who was in school over there.
This is quite pre-dawn, somewhere along Hwy 164 a bit east from Enumclaw.

I like this view of the mountain. Neat mist in the lower valley in front with the early morning light on the peaks.

I am almost always coming at Rainier from the south and have only been southbound up along WA164 once. That was back in Canon D60 6.1mp days.
