Nice - the clouds combined with the stars give a nice depth to the sky. Here's one I don't think I've shared here before from Olmsted Point...

Love both these images. The second one is something not commonly seen. The Bristlecones are always a fund subject with stars.Friday's Focus today is the Milky Way.
Please add your Milky Way photos to this thread.
Here are a couple I will start with.
This first one is from the Bristlecone Pines.

This second one is from the Philippines on Bohol Island.

Hey Bob, I like all of these, your Coal Mine Canyon one is really cool. And your Milky Way shot with the Stop sign is very creative and made me laugh a bit with the Stop sign and all it could imply in the shot.Jim,
Here is a few favorites of the Milky Way. The First is at Coal Mine Canyon, second at Courthouse Butte Sedona, and the third is just for fun.View attachment 6631View attachment 6632View attachment 6633

So you are looking south in this shot? Is that Mt. St. Helens and the lights of Portland directly below the MW here? Here is another one from up at Mt Rainier, and that is the moon setting. I had to wait for it to get low enough that it wasn't washing out the stars and Milky Way. Looking back, it's kind of amazing that I did get such detail in the Milky Way with the moon, but I don't think it was a full moon, even though it looks round, I am pretty sure it was a partial moon. Also the clouds on the horizon felt thicker then they look.
It’s a SE angle, if I remember I was thinking the light pollution was from Olympia. But not sure.So you are looking south in this shot? Is that Mt. St. Helens and the lights of Portland directly below the MW here?

Rick this is nice. It would be worth a try to darken the skies to bring out the stars more. This is about the only night shot I have. Guess I'm not good up late. : )View attachment 6683
