This image is from this past Memorial Day Weekend in Yosemite. The valley was super crowded but this very popular view was nice and quiet. Thanks Jim for the invite to this wonderful forum.
Welcome Eric! It was great meeting you at Joshua Tree and I am glad you have joined our community here.
This is a very cool shot. The Gates of the Valley is one of my favorite locations in Yosemite. I like the bit of color in the sky, and I also like that Bridalveil Falls is showing as it can be hidden depending on where you stand at Gates of the Valley. I also really like the subtle shadow lines in the water that are leading the eyes from both sides right into the middle of the composition. Very nicely composed to incorporate that.
I've only been going to Colorado over the last couple of years. After seeing the location in the original True Grit film I made sure to visit the area. Funny thing was that when I arrived to photograph Chimney Rock there were 5 guys on horses trying to recreate that very scene from the movie.
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
