Hail, Yes!

From my trip to CO in Sep '14. The main purpose of the trip was to see Crosby, Stills and Nash at Red Rocks with my brother and his family. Awesome!!
Did manage to get up to RMNP on two days. This is from the first.
On the road up to the Bear Lake trail head, clouds were darkening over Hallet Peak and the divide, but late afternoon sun still beautifully illuminated aspen trees on the way.

Once we got up to Bear Lake, along the trail to the north (far) side of the lake, we were welcomed by a rain and hail storm. Fortunately the hail was quite small in size, but, since the weather below the Front Range back in Boulder was nice, I was only attired in shorts and t-shirt. Yep, we got seriously cold!! That's Long's Peak upper left center, through the hail and rain. And yes, this is a color photo! :)

By mid September you can get snow in the high country along the Rockies depending on elevation. Those beautiful quakies in that first image always come with a nip to the air.

Hey Barry,

I sure like your hail photo. The misty view is sure sweet. I bet it was cold for you in the rain and hail.
