Highland cows

Most Scots call all highland cattle, cows even if they are obviously bulls. Both sexes have horns with the smaller females having longer horns. Out for a cycle and I wish I had brought a longer lens but cycling with a 100-400mm lens didn't seem sensible. This image had me standing in front of a very tall hedge holding my camera high above my head squinting to see the LCD. Ken

I have seen this breed in the US a few times, really woolly buggers. Nice job for over the hedge.

They sure look like a fluffy pet. Like you just want to go up and hug them. Very nice work on this one.

As for the term cows, that's used here in the US very generically too. Certainly one will say Bull, if they specifically mean a bull. But in general when you see cows out in a pasture it's referring to all the cows whether male or female.

great shot, I love the highlander cattle. I had the chance to see them on Long Island NY, they are awesome.
