Home, Home in the Fog

I moved to my new house 7 months ago in Nov 2022. It pretty much just snowed and the wind blew. I used to think that 50mph wind gusts were bad, but they quickly became "moderate" as 80+mph gust were common. The snow is pretty much gone now and it's bizarre to see it rain, hail or thunder instead. I've carried my camera with me on a few hikes, but this is the first that I've actually "developed". This is right outside my door -- maybe 30' to the side of my front door.

At some point, I hope to get some moose or bald eagle shots as they are the original inhabitants. I've seen both, but not when I had my camera with me.

Just walk outside and you get to see this? And you waited this long to show us? ........fingers drumming on desktop>.......

Such a shame you aren't getting the experience of fine living in the 'burbs listening to yard crews with their leaf blowers 😁

Actually, I don't even have to walk outside -- just look out my windows.......
Before now, it's pretty much been snow & drifted snow. And I've been watching the light. Learning the difference between moose and elk scat and bull elk and cow elk scat.

Yeah, I really miss pulling up bindweed & mowing the lawn...........not.

Nice yard, Monika. I can't wait for your first moose image.
Thanks, Doug. I'm anxious for my first moose shot, too. They've come charging through my yard a few times, and I've seen them grazing on the hillsides, but never had my camera ready. Someday........

Now that's a great yard! I am glad conditions improved so that you could take photos of it. Will your dog scare off the moose or elk?

Thanks, Jim. I've been told that these moose are adjusted to dogs -- they don't think that they're wolves & attack them. When they were up on the hillside, my dog barked at them, but they just stood there & kept browsing. Usually, if something doesn't run, my dog doesn't chase it.

The fog was great for photos, but destroyed any chance of seeing the aurora that night.........similar conditions forecast for next Wed when it's supposed to be visible around there again........

wow. that's a gorgeous yard! and with the fog too! even if you don't get any wildlife, you could still get a lot of great landscapes here.

Thanks, Pepper. The fog hides the neighbors' houses (I only have .8 acre), but, yes, more opportunities will come.
