Hummers in the backyard.

Anna's (common name) Hummingbirds taken in back yard with 2 flashes on low power using pocket wizards
to tiger flashes. You can see the set up in the last picture. I would cut different flowers from my wife's garden and fix them to the branch of a bush so they would be in the shade. The feeder would attract them over and then they would go over and visit the flowers. The flash speed is faster than shutter speed and helps capture the wings.

Wow - these are incredible and interesting to see how you got them. My wife has 4 feeders out right now and we have an extended family of Anna's hitting them up constantly. I did set up my camera to shoot some of them through the window of my office area but after seeing your images mine won't be getting posted soon at all.

Thanks, read an article on sports photography and how they were getting "air shot's" of mtn. bikers and thought I'ld try it on hummers.

It's awesome I think that we all can inspire each other here. It's not always easy, but it's great when people can leave their ego's at the door and we all just share, taking in suggestions with the same care as we take in compliments.
