I got the Blues....Not!

This macro I did at f 4.5, 1/400 sec, ISO 250. I was playing with the color & brought the blues down & the magenta up, which I would usually warm a little. Just curious as to what you think!

For me color in a flower is whatever you want, we don't know the actual color, but might see a real funky like brown for a rose as an example. But in this case, I like the colors.

Thanks Ben, what about the overall....is it too blurry with the flower in the back...comp...etc?

Likimited DOF is an artistic choice and one I seldom make with flowers. I think that the usual choice is the stamens or center of the flower. In this case I am not too fond of using the leading petals, but then a different angle would be required to make the center prominent.

Your call here.

Okay that is good advice, thank you ;).

Hey Darcy, I agree with Ben, I would have made the stamens the focus not that leading edge of the flower.

As for the colors, your choices there look pretty cool to me.

I like the color, and do think the background blur is nice, but I think you missed focus on the closest petal tip. A focus stack from the closest tip, back through at least the center or perhaps the whole front flower blended with the out of focus background would be great, but would take a lot of work and I find many macro stacks like this don't work perfectly in the end.

Yes I agree, I do believe I missed the petal tip now that I look at it again LOL. Gonna take some work with this lens & comps, etc!
