Imaging Close to Home - Post Yours!

During the extraordinarily difficult time, I went back to see what images I had been able to produce within walking distance of my house. I invite folks to pot some of their favorite images taken within walking distance of their house, either current or from any time in the past. Hopefully inspiring for all of us...

In my case, we are fortunate to have have a path behind our house that borders open space, and between the changing trees and the animals (eagles, owls, coyotes, etc.) it can be a fun place to image. I particularly liked this one I got from a few years ago, shot with my trusty 5D Mk II.

Pretty cool Mike, I sure like that view and how you framed it. But after seeing this, I don't know why we aren't seeing more photos from this spot, it would be a great spot for a sunrise or sunset when the colors go nuclear.

Unfortunately for me there is nothing within walking distance from my house to shoot landscapes. All I have is more houses.... miles and miles of houses...

I love my own backyard, which is a mess right now that I'm using my shelter in place time to redo the grout on the walkway. I sure wish I had easy access to an open space like yours Mike, but that's a 15 min. drive for me.

This guy was cute, but pesky. A family of three camped out in a thick tree in our backyard one season and really stunk the place up. I finally ran them off with repeated shots of water when ever I was out watering the yard.

Grey squirrels can cause problems, but I enjoy watching their antics.

The summer view from my patio. I loved the shady tunnel look, but my wife didn't, so we removed some of the overhanging branches to open it up some.

Wow Ben, that's a great deck view! It wouldn't take much of a crop to lose those house roofs, and then one would never know you shot it from your yard.

Yep, especially now when there is snow on it, it makes those mountains look really interesting.

That is a cool assortment Jim. I like the shady overhang look in the last one.

This is from a bit after the midpoint of the bigger loop run I do from my house. I didn't bring my camera on a run, but this is coming back from a dog walk with a friend. I went up to this spot the other day hoping to catch alpenglow on fresh snow the other day, but it was totally socked in.

I ran back inside and grabbed my camera and tripod when I saw these skies that morning - good visibility for St. Helens and good sunrise skies aren't all that common.

Wow, lucky you with those eagles and water Tim. I also like your run view Monika, like Jim says I'd do that as a walk with a camera more often if I thought there was a good sunset/rise possible.
