Neat shot of these critters. Do they ever go after your prickly pears?

They may look like pigs but they don't taste like pork. I used to hunt them as a teenager living in Phoenix. They taste more like venison than pork although once I tried it I decided that hunting them wasn't really worth success and bailed on the endeavor.

yes. I've lost 1/2 of my prickly pear to disease secondary to Javelina damage. I've never tasted one. They have an aroma a bit milder than skunks.

no, they are not shy and they're not aggressive. A mother with reds (Red are baby javelinas) with leave when they notice me.
