The Quadracci Pavilion portion of the Milwaukee Art Museum resembles a sailing vessel from the outside. It was designed by Santiago Calatrava. This image is from the inside of the Quadracci Pavilion. I would consider this the bow of the ship. It is such a large open space that it really needs a person in the scene to give it a sense of scale. This little girl escaped from her mother's grasp and experienced some childhood joy by running and skipping around the 'bow' of the pavilion.

If I were taking the shot I might well have been cursing under my breath that the kid was in the way but if she wasn't in this scene all sense of scale would have been lost. Nice use of the range of light.

Alan - Many thanks. Yeah, the scene really needs some people in it. I do have another shot of a couple in the scene and he was looking at his phone. The problem with adults in the composition is the first window support bar goes right behind the head of an adult. There is a small snack shop to camera right. I was sitting in there with a friend taking a break. There was a young woman eating lunch in the snack shop. When she finished lunch, I asked her to pose in the scene for me. The best image of the three is this one of the little girl.

Ben: Good question. This is a pavilion. So, I assume it is used for group events. There is a wide hallway to camera left that leads to other parts of the museum. Predominately, that is where the art is located. There are a few sculptures located along the wide hallway. The hallway is interesting to shoot from an architectural viewpoint. There is a long series of arches. Images of the arches will follow, soon?!
