These look fine, but I think they are more like street photography than portrait.

Not certain what all you did with your software but the OOF backdrop in the first image has a more pleasing tone to it as a blur than the second one. The second one has almost a pattern look to it which doesn't really fit in with the subject in front.

Hey Tom,

Very nice captures here. I like #1 the most. In #2 I am distracted by the stairs in the right side, maybe a crop to lose those?

I like the experiment from what I see here.
