King of birds

Weird. I know I replied to this earlier today.

Very nice Ben.
Although some think the California Condor is the king of birds, I agree with you, the bald eagle is king, and majestic in flight.

Yes you replied to me over at my media and I saw it and answered then realized it does not carry over to the forum.

Thanks Jim. I had a 20 year run with them. Not many in Utah, a few but not as bunched or accessible.

I found a juvenile, just yesterday, along the Colorado river. That's highly unusual as usually there are only one or two through the winter. And then they leave, I assume toward Alaska.

Golden Eagles, on the other hand, seem to be everywhere once you go south toward La Sal.

I would love to get a Golden Eagle. We see them around here, but not often. Goldens seem to be solitary, Bald Eagles travel in flocks and congregate around salmon spawning grounds or below the dam locks where they can get fish. This habit makes them easier to find and photograph than Goldens.

Thanks, all you need is a fairly long lens, at least 300 but 400 is better and 500 best. Then go to one of the winter feeding grounds where the congregate to feed, almost always fish.
