This 12th Century church is a very peasant 2 mile walk from home. It has been much abused in the past by Scottish invaders and Henry VIII. Ken
I agree that it unlikely that many modern buildings will last. This church and its monastery were built from stones removed from the nearby Roman wall. The religious buildings of this era were built with almost limitless money and using materials that last although it has been restored often. Part of this building is still used as a Church. KenOh wow Ken! The B&W really helps to bring out the mood in this. I enjoy the history in these.
And this just came to mind. Though buildings like these are old and ruined, I wonder how our modern buildings with all of our new technology would have held up under the same abuse? I don’t think the modern building would have faired as well.
