Oh wow Ken! The B&W really helps to bring out the mood in this. I enjoy the history in these.

And this just came to mind. Though buildings like these are old and ruined, I wonder how our modern buildings with all of our new technology would have held up under the same abuse? I don’t think the modern building would have faired as well.

I agree that it unlikely that many modern buildings will last. This church and its monastery were built from stones removed from the nearby Roman wall. The religious buildings of this era were built with almost limitless money and using materials that last although it has been restored often. Part of this building is still used as a Church. Ken

What a great image. The B%W treatment and the age and bleakness of the light tell one story, the bright daffodils one of hope. The entire story is one of endurance.

The building is in pretty good shape for its age. Are any efforts being made to maintain it or restore it? Neat to have the graveyard nearby with headstones still intact.
