Last night's sunset

Yesterday I decided not to go to any special place for sunset and almost didn't bother going out as the forecast was for heavy cloud. The heavy cloud cover was there but I noticed a thin band of clear sky between the cloud and the marine layer that had been present all day so I ventured out 1 hour before sunset and got some pleasant images of the islands off the coast. As expected the sun sank into the mush (marine layer) and I thought that was then of the entertainment.

I waited on the off chance that the cloud layer might color up and was amply rewarded 15 minutes after sunset when the sky lit up.

Sweet conclusion to your sunset and good call on sticking around. I like the textures on the bottom of the clouds.

I have experienced very similar conditions out along the Oregon coast where a color show erupted over the top of the marine layer that so often snuffs colors out.

Strange though it seems, this is the East coast of England and a sunset. This far North the sun sets in the far North East and the East coast points North East. Ken

As a matter of habit I never give up on a sunset till after the blue hour is done. Sometimes you get rewarded like you did. Nice pair of images.
