Lithic Abstract

The Oregon coastline is a combination of intrusive basalts and uplifted marine depositions of various ages. In this case just north of Yaquina Head are exposed cliffs of early and middle Miocene age. This example shows the mudstones of the Nye formation from the early Miocene (15-20 million years ago).
