a few shots from last september. the park had been closed for close to a month due to wildfires, it reopened for about a week and then closed for the season for snow. it was more crowded than i'm used to and really smokey, but it was still fun.

You got some really nice fall colors for the pass. I love that first shot.

I was up in the St. Mary's area a couple of weeks before you shot these and the colors weren't as far advanced up near the pass visitor center. It was just starting to get smoky when I left to go down to the Tetons to meet up with Ben and Jim. The crowds were crazy compared to what I used to seeing in that park in mid September.

Wow Pepper! #1 might just be the best Fall Color photo I have seen from there. That is just so sweet! You have the waterfall, the perfect amount of shadows which help impart a very 3D feel and give depth. Man... you nailed it!

The other 2 are also very nice, but #1 is in a category to itself.

Love the dusting of snow in all of them, but like everyone else #1 is outstanding for me - the fall color with the waterfall and curving line of the stream bed leading up to the peak make it print worthy.

#1 is my favorite - the mountain rising up above a wonderfully colored valley with a waterfall -- what more could you ask for?

thanks alan. so i wasn't imagining the crowds last year. luckily they were all pretty well behaved and nobody was being obnoxious. but there was no where to park at logan pass.

thanks jim. the waterfall made the shot for me, that thing is huge and yet it's so small against the mountain. logan pass visitors center is just a barely visible speck in the upper right.

I have to agree, that first shot is absolutely gorgeous.
thank you ben.

thanks jim, i love seeing the snow year round at glacier. it must have just snowed before i arrived because the dusting looked pretty fresh for september.

thanks monika, it was my favorite of the bunch too.

thank you dean. glacier is one of my favorite national parks, though i haven't had much luck visiting because i go late in the season so plan your visit a little earlier than late september/early october. out of 10 or so attempts i've made it 4 times. one of my favorite failed attempts the park was on fire on the west side and under snow on the east side. i imagine it was the perfect temperature in the middle if i could have accessed it.
