Looking back, planning ahead....

These are from my first trip to the Owen's Valley with photography in mind, back in Dec '07. It was quite cold and windy, but the sky cooperated with some action. I posted a more colorful scene earlier but this view is always appealing to me.
I'm also planning on spending a couple days in the area in Dec, after visiting Mom for a few days. Anybody interested in meeting, let me know.
Any c&c welcome.

Neat shots - I got to drive US395 a couple of years ago right after I retired and would love to head that way again sometime.

Hmmm - that’s a 3 day drive for me and I would need to come down via Bakersfield to avoid the high passes to the north.... gotta think about that one.
Understood. I'll be in Bakersfield already, where Mom still lives, so it'll be a bit easier for me! Then after a couple days in Owen's Valley I'll be heading on east working my way home, with a number of stops to shoot along the way.

Sweet shots Barry! #2 is my favorite as the shape of the cloud really does it for me.

Maybe post a reminder in your meetup/event forum Thread too.

Any thoughts beside the Eastern Sierra yet? I am heading out this weekend for my birthday, trying to decide between Trona Pinnacles, Death Valley or the Eastern Sierra.

Haven't decided yet. Plan on setting out from Bakersfield the morning of the 14th and head to Lone Pine, with prolly a stop at Red Rock Canyon, along Hwy 14. Nothing set beyond that. It's very fluid, subject to weather and whims! :)
Thanks and will do!
And Happy Birthday young man! You're still a few years behind me! I'll be 67 by the time I leave Bakersfield!!

I like the loose plan - have a clue for where to start and leave everything else open ended. Having good weather links is essential for knowing which direction to go next - especially if you head up into Canyonlands turf in mid-late December. Be prepared for winter driving conditions.

Copy! Weather, and a cold I was fighting, kept me from getting up to Moab last year. Looking forward, with fingers crossed, to it for this year!
