This was one of my first night photos, and remains a favorite. I was in Yosemite Valley chasing moonbows and stopped at this flooded area near the swinging bridge to capture Yosemite Falls by the light of the full moon.
Rebel XT and a Tokina 12-24 lens... Not much chance at point stars!Looks nice. A bit of motion in the stars but a lot less than my first attempt.
Thanks Ben - Seems like we agree on theseGreat moon lit shot. I really like the brighter "daytime" appearance. Even though we can't see it this way, it's entirely real.
Thanks Jim - and that's exactly what I was doing that night. I shot the moonbow on lower falls, then on upper falls, and then moved to this spot for the wider view.Hey Kyle,
Nice work on this. I have many similar shots as this, as it's really cool to shoot Yosemite like that with the moon bow on Yosemite Falls. The position of it changes as you change your angle, so I have shot it close up, and then moved out over in this area to shoot it some more. While there is that bit of star movement, it's not that noticeable because there isn't much sky in this shot.
Really nice work!
Jim
Thanks Ben - Seems like we agree on these
Hey Kyle, I have a new one up this week on Critique.
That's actually what I enjoy about full moon landscapes. At first glance, they can look like a "normal" daytime shot, but something seems a little off. When I shoot these I'm not really trying to create a nighttime mood - and I really enjoy the peace and quiet of having these locations to myself.Very odd picture in a fascinating way. I mean, it looks almost like soft daylight. To see so much clarity and color at night is playing tricks with my mind. It is an interesting capture indeed. I'll need to go to the beach more on a full moon and see what I can come up with.
