M8 The Lagoon Nebula - First Light Image for New Cam

First light image for the new member of the family the ZWO ASI2600MM Pro Cooled cam.
The SHO palette was used with some cross-blending on all channels
300s x 10 NB SHO lights and 120s x 20 RGB lights for stars @ -10C Gain: HCG Offset:10
No darks yet produced (it's that new)

Equipment used:
Skywatcher 8" Quattro
Skywatcher NEQ6 Pro
Skywatcher Aplanatic Coma Corrector
ZWO ASI2600MM Pro
ZWO OAG
Primaluce Sesto Senso EAF
ZWO 36mm 7nm unmounted filters
Bortle 5

Data acquisition software: NINA
Processing software: PixInsight, PTGui Pro and Photoshop CC

Wonderful! Fantastic rendition - the object just pops off the screen. Colors are dramatic. How are you finding the sensitivity and noise compared to your previous camera? The 2600MM is on my future acquisition list. Only question is when. I am trying to figure out if I can set up 2 separate imaging trains on one mount and if so I will be buying one hopefully sooner. Otherwise perhaps as a replacement for my venerable 1600MM when it finally dies.

In any case I will be looking to see and here more from this camera as you progress with it!

Cheers Mike ! Still getting to know the camera, so far HCG (gain 100) seems to be showing some great results. Have just finished building the dark library for HCG and gain 0 which I will be testing next. Darks look nice and clean for both levels so it will be an interesting test to shoot at the lower level and see how the larger well and difference in noise/DR manifests.

That will be an interesting test. From the specs it did look to me like those 2 gain settings might be able to cover all cases (with that noise floor resetting to a low value at 100) - or maybe even everything can be shot at just one setting, both RGB and narrowband.

How have you found the amp glow to be? That is one thing I would like to see improved over my existing ASI1600. I see it is supposed to be improved in these new cameras...

Hi Mike, you will be pleased to know that there is no amp glow at all! Yay ! Although with the 183MM as with any other cam exhibiting glow they are as you know easily calibrated out with darks. Some are going as far as to not using darks with this camera. For me I will still continue to do so.

I am currently testing gain 0 on the Lagoon again and will post the image when finished for comparison. Here is a screenshot of my 600s master dark at gain 0 -10C

Wow that is a truly impressive 10 minute long master dark! Yes, I am familiar with calibrating out the amp glow but at times it seems to be a less than perfect result for me, so I would be happy to have the issue mostly solved at capture time.

Look forward to your comparison image at the lower gain setting!
