The sunset at Christmas meadows was very peaceful. I went scouting for a high spot that would get the S curve of the river and this seemed the best I could do.

A few, I have a bee keeper hat I used while I was sitting in camp, but bug spray kept me free when I went to the river.Lovely. Any bugs?
Like I told Jim, the bugs were not really a problem. I have had worse at this location.Nice lush greens in the meadow - I like the look of the high altitude forests this time of year.
Unfortunately the rocky mountain mosquito population always liked me more than I liked them and I used to get eaten alive this time of year and especially about this time of day.
thanks Douglas. I have been scouting this for 7 years and even had help from Jeffrey who found a neat place upstream but since flooded by beaver activity. I normally shoot where those rocks are but this time I went as far up the slope as I could while keeping the S curve in the right location. Then I raised my tripod as high as it goes and higher than I can see it. So I had to pre arrange it all and then raise the center column and make some adjustments to get the comp right. The S curve does not show up well on the viewfinder so I was not sure it would workGreat job of scouting, Ben. I believe that scouting is at least 80% of the work in making a great photo.
thanks Jim you r comments last year prompted my efforts to get a better S curveThis looks really good Ben. Nice curve in the creek. I like that light on the peaks.
Great job! It sure worked.thanks Douglas. I have been scouting this for 7 years and even had help from Jeffrey who found a neat place upstream but since flooded by beaver activity. thanks Jameel, this is a day drive from home. 2.5 hours. This fall I plan to drive from home for sunrise and stay for sunset and back home. I just about froze last year so I want to avoid sleeping thereLooks nice Ben. I like the morning light on the peaks with its reflection in the river coupled with diffused light from the cloud cover. Nice location.
