Milky Way: iPhone 12 Pro Max

Been a while since I’ve visited or posted… life gets in the way. I haven’t been shooting much, mostly working and doing things around the house.
Last night I stepped out and looked at the sky conditions, they weren’t too bad considering the amount of rain we’ve been getting. I was able to see the Milky Way through the light polluted skies here and took a shot with the iPhone. I used Apple ProRAW and night mode for a 30” exposure. Edits were done in Lightroom mobile.
This is a before and after. Definitely not great, but definitely great for an iPhone!

That's really cool Todd. Nice processing on it. With basically a full moon, it's really great that you got as much of the Milky Way as you did as the moon certainly washes it out. So very nice work!

I had bought the iphone 11 Pro, finally upgrading from the 6s.... so you can tell I don't upgrade my phones too often. By the time I am ready for another phone, maybe the iphone 15 or 16, I can only imagine how well the camera in it will be doing.

Yes I used a mini tripod and mount for the iPhone to keep it steady.

thanks Jim. I didn’t have the moon out on this shot, this is just lots of light pollution. As for the iPhone, I usually upgrade every year… I like the camera upgrades even if they are small. It’s my passion and I love shooting with my iPhone. The 11 pro is a nice jump from the 6s.

Quite remarkable for an iPhone shot. The ability to edit in RAW with the 12 series has me feeling deprived with my 11 Pro.

Those phones are really getting to be amazing. Just hope they don't drive the regular camera makers out of business Nice result, truly impressive on a phone for sure.
