Mineral Monday 05/23/2022

Because I will be on the road on Monday, I am posting this thread today. The first two images are of the opposite sides of a large quartz crystal with pink tourmaline crystals from the famous Pala District in California.

The next two are different forms of K-feldspar or microcline. The pinkish one is called orthoclase and the bluish green one is called amazonite. The green is thought to be caused by trace amounts of lead.

I love the contrasts of the tourmaline and the quartz in the second image and the amazonite in the last one. Nice job with the lighting to bring out the beauty of these specimens.
