Hi All,
Hope everyone's New Year is Starting our really good.
I was going through one of my many external hard-drives (6) and found this image. It was one of the first images I took in my IR Adventure. This was shot with a Sony F-717, you could set it to Nightshot Mode, screw on a R72 filter, and an ND8 filter to cut down on the sensitivity. The thing that always makes me smile about this, it's one of my deep favorites and it looks to me like it was taken with the Moon Shining, when in Truth the Sony 717 had 2 beams that it shoots out to help with the Nightshot mode focusing. When I took the image I was just learning so I didn't "cover" them with 2-3 layers of black electrical tape and the end result was the bright shining light that looked like 2 Moons and I ended up covering the one on the left up leaving this one.
The image is called "Moonlight on the Boardwalk" from 2004 Oh, and I still have the old trusty 717 it's sitting 2 feet from me !!!
😉

Be Safe, Be Well !!!

Wow!!! This is really sweet! Love the look of. And a great composition whether it is visible light or IR.

That’s so interesting about the night mode focusing lights. You solved it well, as the look is awesome.

Thanks Jim, It was really kind of sweet to find this again. It was from my first outing out and
still has that special hold on me. The Little 717 really produced a lot of neat IR Images and had a large
following on the Early Days of DP Reviews - Sony Talk Forum. One of the premier IR shooters with it back then
was Andy William (NO Not the Singer) but the one that was tied to SmugMug for a lot of years and he and Mark Muench have
the Photography Tours together now.

Very nice result. Especially for a shot that goes back to 2MP days.
Thanks Alan, the little 717 was one of the First 5mp , I still remember all the looks we used to get
with the guys shooting them, with that long lens on the swivel body. Have to say , it produced some stunning Color
images.
