I love DV in B&W. The god rays in the 1st really make it special and the textures of the rock & cracked mud in the 2nd are really great.

No, I always associated split toning with color grading, which I do use, but not with monochrome images. Maybe I don’t understand what you mean by split toning.

This was taken at Dante’s Peak.

I have been trying to place the 2nd one. Those peaks in the background remind me of the Racetrack area. Am I close?

Not real close Jim. This was taken not far from Furnace Creek on the road going out to Badwater. Just mudcracks as the result of a washout after a half inch of rain.

Oh man, I wasn’t even in the neighborhood. Though that area you described does have quite a few mud crack areas. You found a really cool one in this.
