My first landscape photo - a challenge

The challenge is to post your 1st real landscape shot, for better or worse.

This really was my 1st landscape shot, in May of 2006. Only recently in that year got a 20D .
Had just purchased a Sigma 17-70 and was fretting about dpreview comments about it's focusing. You know, the gearhead syndrome. So I headed over to Grants Ranch to take a few snaps, no tripod either.
This was at f5.6, 1/1000. Surprised it all is relatively in focus. SOOC, no Photoshop then

I had a 20D back then and got more than a handful of nice images out of it. Nice peaceful scene for breaking in the new camera/photographer :)

Nice shot, though, Dan! The 20D was my first serious camera after the Rebel and I had great use out of it right up until I bought my first 5D. I'm with you on the gearhead worries, particularly about lenses - basically you learn to just go out and shoot!

I started with the 10D, but soon went to 20D which was my workhorse for a while. I got a few keepers with it. This is a great first landscape. Those gearheads at DP caused a lot of gear upgrades.

I'll play - but due to the challenge of defining my "first real landscape" I'll just include the first landscape shot I took with a digital camera. That avoids my having to figure out if something earlier was a landscape or a snapshot. This was with my Rebel XT and a Tokina 24-40 lens and was the first shot I took with it outside of my daughter's swim meets...

I would have to scan some pretty old slides from 120 slide film from a twin lens reflex camera during the early 1960's for a first landscape scene so I will follow Kyle's lead and confine my "first" to a Canon D60 DSLR (6mp) I purchased in late 2002 to compliment my Canon EOS Elan 35mm film body. I do have some earlier digital landscapes taken with a Nikon Coolpix 800 (1.9mp) in 1999 I am going to classify as snapshots since I didn't really take digital cameras seriously at that time.

This was taken at the north unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge right after I had taken some test images of one of our cats.

An interesting challenge you have come up with Dan.

I have been wracking my head all night as I was driving back from Yosemite. I can physically remember my first landscapes I took at age 11 in B&W film. Besides that being some 40 or 50 years ago  an over zealous Mom made sure to have thrown all of those old negs away. So my first landscapes only exist in my mind, which actually may not be a very safe place for them either...

If the challenge is modified to just be the first digital landscape image like Alan did since I seem to be in the same boat as he is in, I then have chance of finding that. As a hint, it will involve Yosemite... :)

So I will look later and see what I can dig up.

Here is mine, ugh... wait a minute... I just looked at the exif.... this was shot with a D200... so it's not my first... oh well, let me share it as I need to go dig even deeper. This was from Dec 2006. hmmm, I thought I had it. Oh well, hopefully this is close enough for now.

Very interesting challenge, to the little grey cells as well! Had to think a bit. I recently had my old AE-1 stolen so didn't have a camera at all!
For an upcoming trip to Colorado to see my brother and his family, I picked up a little Canon G3. Yes, a point and shoot, but nonetheless digital!
It was my 2nd trip to CO and I knew I had to have something! A year or so later I graduated to the Rebel XT, but I have to go with this as my first digital landscape shot.....

Jim, I think the Tunnel View is a good representative 1st one.

Barry & Andrey thanks for the fun additions to this.

I could have dug up (maybe I will after all), of some film stuff from 70's. Some editing required
