My personal favorites #1

As many of you know, I am no longer able to do much landscape photography. The issue is that I can’t ride in a vehicle long enough to get very far.

my wife and I have been discussing which of my images were the best. She does not like desert so that puts a big drag on the candidates. Of course I do like desert so I will stubbornly included some.

what I would like to do in a series of posts is to find my best and show them here for comment. I intend to rework all of these to my latest processing. I consider this my legacy.

I have been somewhat disappointed at the lack of good candidates. I have about 13 so far from my lifetime production. Seems a bit low. But I have just started.

Beautiful sunrise and some great Teton atmospherics. Great choice. Well worth clicking through to see this at 100% size to appreciate the processing.

I know this spot - this is from a time when there was less grass in the water compared to what I saw when I went there with you and Rick.

Hey Ben,

What a great idea you have here. I know this is one of my favorite of yours. It's a perfect combination of everything, snow on the peaks, fall colors in the background, and beautiful sunrise lit clouds.

Besides the obvious beauty of the location itself, one thing that makes this unique is the fact that you have color both on the mountains and in the clouds. I'm used to seeing one or the other. So you have a beautiful location, beautiful light, fall color, sweet reflection... What more could you want? I would probably crop a touch from the right and from the bottom to help the balance (to my eye), but otherwise wouldn't change a thing.

A stunning image Ben. I can see why this is one of your favorites. A wall hanger for sure - I am sure you already have this printed.
Yes I have it at 24x36 it is not my all time favorite but close
My wife likes this one but not my all time favorite

Firstly, I am sorry to hear that you are not able to get out much anymore. That is a real disappointment I am sure, and a great loss for us that look forward to your newly acquired images each time you post them. I have always looked up to you as an inspiration for my own scenic photography and I do not think that will ever change.

I gotta say in ALL seriousness, if this image is any indication of the quality of the remaining 12 you have picked (spoiler alert - I am pretty sure it is) I would feel quite happy with such a photographic legacy indeed.

I am not sure how this could possibly be improved. The composition, framing, exposure, and processing all seem perfect. I hope you have this image hanging on a wall somewhere. I mean good grief. Daily Featured Status at least for this one. Thanks so much for sharing this, I know I will be enjoying any and all of the rest of them you post.

Lastly, I am also fairly certain that if any of the rest of the scenic shooters here on FW were to comb through all your wonderful work, there would be a lot more than 13 images picked out. We are often much more critical of our own work than we need to be I think ;) :)

Best Regards,

ML
