Mystery Bloom

About a week ago I spent the night in Riverside State Park in Spokane. I wandered out to get a quick shooting session in and was looking for blooms. I didn't care how big and this specimen kinda shows how far I was willing to go to get my blooming composition

I have no clue whatever what this flower is so if someone else can chime in I am all ears. For scale the pine needles are from ponderosa pine and that is a common rock lichen on the left side of the scene.

I tried to find an ID for this online but finally decided to stop looking and post the shot anyway.

I think you have the right family. I am scanning through some online images of phlox and see some possible matches with cushion phlox. The plant is less than 1" off the ground so it's pretty much a ground cover plant.
