Neilson Wash

All of you folks who have been heading to Factory Butte or to the Skyline Overlook have cruised right past Neilson Wash. I've checked out another wash a little further up, but it wasn't as interesting. After a rain to fill in the potholes, it should be really pretty. I stopped at a place where, in order to proceed, I would have had to down climb a downward traverse on a slightly overhanging wall on flat-cut holds over a large stagnant pool with very large boulders in it with camera pack on my back. And was suffering from too much driving and caffeine the previous day. I guess you can go down the next fork that joins into this one & see it from the bottom, then turn around & walk back to the road, but I had a drive ahead of me that I was kind of anxious to get on. As it was, I did have 1 pool to wade around the edges of after trying various ways to avoid it.

Wow - what a neat example of erosion at work. I love the honeycombs of the second image and the reflections in the last one. Neat terrain for B&W too - nice work with that.

Wow Monika! That's so cool looking! I am guessing we need to slow down a bit on our way to Skyline Overlook it seems. I am going to have to look this one up and see where it is on the map.

Great shots Monika.

I really like #2! But trypophobic people would not be happy with any of these :) I'm only slightly distracted by the out of focus bottom portion of the frame.
