NGC 2070 The Tarantula Nebula in Narrowband (OSH)

NGC 2070 The Tarantula Nebula, a common target in the southern hemisphere and one that has lots of glorious detail.
This target was shot using narrowband filters to create an OSH-palette image. 48 x 180s sub frames @-10C were shot over 2 nights for a total integration time of about 2.5 hrs

This is a nebula that almost takes on a ghostly appearance. I see several cartoon aliens and ghosts in this. :) But Tarantula is an apt name for it. One that I guess I won't be able to capture without some traveling. I am really enjoying just how much there is going on in this. It's like the nebulosity drank too many cups of coffee and is running on pure caffeine!

Love this - I am so envious of having that target in the sky :) It is on my list to try to shoot with something when I am finally able to safely travel down to the Southern Hemisphere someday. I am not sure how much magnification is required to resolve this - I am likely going to be constrained to smaller focal lengths and a tracker of some kind. Perhaps getting just the galaxy itself (which is also a truly amazing target) is going to have to be good. But I digress...

This is really nice - truly impressive detail and the colors are nice as well. Thanks for posting the AB link to allow one to really go see it in all its exquisite detail! Great job! Amazing how bright it is, with this much detail in 2.5 hours - that f/4 aperture is helping there, but this thing really is bright!
