NGC 3532 or more commonly known as the Pincushion Cluster or Wishing Well Cluster is a bright open cluster of approximately 150 stars of magnitude 7 or fainter in the constellation Carina some 1300 light-years away from Earth. NGC 3532 covers an area of the sky that is almost twice the size of the full Moon. The background sky here in a rich part of the Milky Way is very crowded with stars. Some glowing red gas is also apparent, as well as subtle lanes of dust that block the view of more distant stars.

I don't think I have seen the Pincushion Cluster before. That looks super cool, and so different then the typical clusters with all of the stars packed in close.

You have me really itching to get back out. Next week I am going somewhere, to do Deep Space. I am scouring the weather daily. Anywhere within a 10 hour drive I will head to! The monsoon weather is really wrecking havoc with the whole SW area, so that's what's making it hard.
