NGC 6188 The Fighting Dragons of Ara

NGC 6188 is an emission nebula 4,000 lys away in the constellation Ara but is more commonly known as the Fighting Dragons of Ara.
This is a reprocess of data captured 8 months ago (waiting on some clear skies here) on different equipment and with different skills. Hopefully I have improved since then.
This has been cropped quite a lot to remove vignetting due to inexperience with my setup at the time but hopefully this composition has captured the drama displayed by the target.
179 x 300s OSC using a duo NB filter at -5C

What an awesome intro photo you have here. I don't recall seeing any images of this area before. My immediate thought is that the detail in it reminds me a bit of the Elephants Trunk. Fantastic work.

Welcome to Focal World. We are getting a lot of great astro photographer's , of which I am not a member:rolleyes: but I sure enjoy looking at others work.

Incredible deep space image - I love the 3D feel to this. Welcome to Focal World and I you post more images like this one. I am not a deep space photographer but I sure like viewing images like this.

Oh man... I was so enjoying the view of this, until I read your comment I guess I had skipped over your title and about the Dragons. It really does look like fighting dragons! I guess I better start paying more attention. :)

I guess everyone has their own "first impression" of things and you proved the point ! I'm glad :)

Welcome to FW! Great to have another astroimager here, especially one as experienced as yourself. These wonder Southern Sky objects are going to spoil us :) I am impressed to see this result from a OSC camera - very nice details and colors.

EDIT - I also use the 290MM mini for guiding. A very small chip, but very sensitive including in IR which is important to me as I am using the ONAG to guide with.

Hi Mike! Thanks and good to be here and a shout out to Jim Fox too for the invite! Not too experienced I'm afraid (about 14 mths) but have had lots of local help. I envy the Northern Hemi targets as well...California Neb etc. I think the Optolong L-Enhance filter was the kicker as using it was like flipping a light switch !
