North Sister

North Sister is one of several volcanic mountains in Central Oregon's Cascades. This is an archive find that had some very difficult lighting on a fall morning after a dusting of snow overnight. Morning sunlight on the lava flows created some harsh reflected light I was able to tame with current generations of imaging software.

The North Sister is a really cool one! Very nice view of it. The best ones I have seen were shot a lot closer if I remember.

Thanks Jim - you would need to be on one of the trails to get in closer. This was a windshield trip back in 2005 with my wife.

Nice. I have been in the area but never actually shot this. Looks like the drone might have a better view to capture.
Thanks Jameel - a drone would be able to get a much better vantage point for this peak. Not something I had in my bag 17 years ago

The drone would also be able to include the lava flow better. Nonetheless, this is still a very good image, Alan.
Thanks Doug - From what I have seen getting up in the air is the ticket for getting good views of the Cascade Range peaks. I have driven a lot of miles looking for good views of the peaks without much to show for it.
