NY Moonrises +

I went down to Liberty State Park in NJ Sunday night to shoot the Moonrise, for most of you who do not live in the area, it is in Jersey City and has great views of lower Manhattan as well as the backside of the Statue of Liberty (see reference pano).
The better night would have been 2 days before the FM it was up around 3:44 PM with a 4:30 Sunset. I could not make it so I went the normal night before the full moon. The moon was up at 4:15 and the sunset at 4:30 so a small window however it did get up for one shot I liked which I included here. I will be heading back in December for a better window of opportunity. I shot from this same area in 2016 during the giant super moon and got a nice shot I also included it here as it rose over the Brooklyn Bridge and DUMBO Brooklyn. As a side note, Nat Geo used that image on their website that next day for the header to the gallery of super moon shots around the country. The B/W is a shot I took walking back to the car and from this angle, it merges the view of lower Manhattan and Jersey City which are actually separated by the Hudson River. It includes a few famous bldgs- The Freedom Tower (on the site of the old world trade center) is on the left side. If you look closely you will see the Empire State Bldg in the middle and on the left you can see the Goldman Sachs Bldg.. I was actually attracted to the reflective light in the FG and so I grab the shot. So if you've read this to the end I will apologize for rambling on :)
All comments welcome and thanks for viewing Regards, Dean

I love the 2016 shot - great light and color for the sky with a very interesting foreground. Especially the sailboat right below the moon.

Don't worry about rambling about the scenery in your images - for some of us out here on the left coast this area is a place we only read about or see on the news.

Hey Dean, thanks so much for the details. Since a lot of us may only have visited New York a couple of times, the added details are certainly welcome.

#1 of course is an award winner, but #2 also is in that category with the tighter shot you got of it with some buildings.

I am really tempted to make #3 my favorite, good job on getting it, and the B&W gives it such a classic feel. Perhaps because we have seen so many classic B&W film shots from back in the day, going with B&W really works in New York city more so then most cities I think. So the nice sweeping curved line in it really makes #3 special.

And I am glad you have in this as the reference is really handy and helps put it in perspective.

Love the first one Dean, i wish the moon and the building were not competing, beautiful capture regardless.

Cheers.
