Olmsted Point

I drove to Sacramento after work last night to my parents’ house for Father’s Day. It’s also my grandmother’s 80th birthday.

Initially, I was going to use Sonora Pass to get across the Sierras, but I got some inspiration as I approached Lee Vining. Drivers are allowed to cross Yosemite National Park without a reservation between the hours of 6 pm to 4 am these days, so I decided to use Tioga Pass instead. If you have an opportunity to visit Yosemite, no matter how brief, you take it!

What a fun trip this was. I got a thrill as soon as I entered the eastern gate. This photo comes from Olmsted Point, taken with my iPhone 6. The wildflowers in Yosemite are exploding right now!

What a great shot Michael. Olmstead Point is a fun place to hike and walk around and explore. There is a lot to see and so many varied compositions. I am glad you chose Tioga Pass over Sonara Pass.

Thankfully Yosemite does have the 6pm to 4am reservation exception.
