Open Wide!

I was up the coast in California yesterday and stopped by the Elephant Seal Refuge just north of San Simeon for a little while to shoot. It's amazing that for as much as the seals just lay there not moving for hours on end it seems, there actually is quite a bit of activity.

So here it looks like someone is practicing opening wide for the dentist.

Taken with the Nikon D850 and Nikon 70-300mm.

Thats a menacing pose. Those guys can get pretty stinky. Good shots though.

Thanks Ben, while they are close enough that I only used my 70-300mm instead of the 150-600mm I fortunately could not smell them. I could hear them well, but no smells.

Thanks Jameel, I didn't notice it when I shot it, but yeah the inside of their mouth is sure pink.
