Organ Pipe National Monument, AZ

I spent Friday afternoon and Saturday morning at this national monument last weekend. Ajo Mountain Loop drive was not what it has been in the past. However, there were some very nice patches of wildflowers along the road from the entrance to the visitor center.

Dawn before the sun rose above the mountains to the east.

Wow Doug! That area is certainly blooming! I wish I wasn't so far away, I am jealous of these blooms. It's still snow on the ground here in Colorado.

Both of these score! The poppies are awesome and open in #2. But those Lupine really take the cake, along with the cholla in the middle ground.

Both are super, Doug! Much as I dislike walking close to chollas, the light on them in #1 is wonderful, as is the light on the poppies in #2.

I was walking around very carefully, Monika. I couldn't believe how far away some of the joints were away from the original plants. I suspect that the wind had blown them.
