Over shooting your coverage?

Okay, so who else has a period where you shoot so much, but are on the road so you can’t process? Then when you get back home you end up overlooking complete days or locations of photos because you are so far behind?

I got back from 3 weeks on the road last Thursday through Colorado and New Mexico. Then to add insult to injury I left on Friday to Northern California to explore some of the old California Mission churches.

I don’t even know where to start processing when I get back home tomorrow.

My worst case was a trip I made to Alaska, I had gotten some awesome photos, but immediately had gone on 2 more trips after that. It wasn’t till like 10 years later that I finally processed some of those Alaska photos.

2015 was my overload period. I retired and then took a months long trip that started down through California on US395. Wandered over to SW Utah to visit Zion and Bryce and then took UT 12 over to Capital Reef, up to Green River, over to the Moab area, down towards Blanding to shoot Mule Canyon, Natural Bridges, and then Hovenweap before going to Cortez to visit Mesa Verde. The weather got bad enough I had to bail on looping down to the Bisti and then over to Canyon de Chelly. Never did make it through all of those images but in the fall I started with a trip to Glacier N.P. Got home, repacked up and went off to Mt. Rainier N.P. Came back, restocked and then headed down to Silver Falls State Park in Oregon. Got home, repacked and then went up the Gorge to meet up with some other photographers for a couple of days of gorge shooting and then went up to Forks for a few days.

While I did have a forced break after that and couldn't use my arm to edit photos I am just now starting to get caught up with that backlog. A lot of those images are what I have been posting on here.

Having a backlog to play with beats the alternative :)

This never happens to me. My photo trips tend to be spread out too much, and when I get home, even after a week long trip, I have them all downloaded and sorted within a couple of days. If a week passes before they are all processed it's rare.

But I do tend to go too fast and think an image is finished before it really is.

I haven't had the luxury of repeated trips, but I have come home from one trip with waaaay too many exposures.
I remember, Jim, when you went to Alaska and I was really looking forward to seeing some of your work. Still waiting!
