Painted Hill

Hey Zeph,

This is pretty cool. We don't get many 300mm landscape images, but this shows it can be handy to pull out the long lens once in while!

The Painted Hills is just a really different place, and this captures it well.

Hey Jim - I've found that a telephoto can be very rewarding to work with, especially in iconic scenes that have have been shot from every angle. One can select unique aspects of a greater scene and eliminating having to crop later...
Of course, the unrewarding aspect is lugging that heavy glass around...

I almost never leave my 100-400mm behind. It certainly adds to my lens load but its a rare shooting session where it fails to come out. I fully agree that is a hidden gem for scenes that have been shot to death.

Hey Zeph. Great image from a great location; I love the detail of the colours, stripes, nooks and crannies . I think longer telephotos are really useful in landscape where they can be used with great success. There is so much beauty in detail. I was in the PH this last Spring and used my long lens equally with standard and WA.
