Patterns in the Sand

Those are fun - with a shot like this one it's hard to judge scale if you haven't seen them on the beach before. Nicely framed.

I'd love to see a break down on how the various minerals and/or particle sizes fit into how these are created. The speed of the water flow in suspending these materials must also play a role. I have seen this type of pattern show up all the way from San Diego up to Neah Bay in Washington.

We don't see this in Minnesota unless it's snow mixed with various types of mud and dirt. LOL
