Cute image but something is not right LOL. There are pixally brush marks as a halo around the baby and the bottom of the mom is cut off at the bottom and looks like she has elephant legs behind her LOL.

Yes, as Darcy noted, brush strokes behind the baby and poor blending at bottom. But nice comp with a cute baby!

Mom has pretty intense eyes. Cute kit too. Southern Africa is my favorite place fore wildlife. Never been to Kruger though.

Thanks Jim. I'm sure Kruger is one of the best places in the world for wildlife and my wife and I found it a life-enhancing experience to drive round it for 12 days amongst an abundance of wildlife! I'd go back in a heartbeat - and I hope you manage to get there at some point.

Nice comp and a cute family. As Darcy and Monika have noted there are some edits that could use work.
Thanks for looking and commenting, and for highlighting the problems with this. I can only raise my hands and say "mea culpa" and guilty as charged! I posted this in haste as I was late going out and didn't check it through properly: and I apologise for posting such a poor standard image. I just loved the story behind it and neglected the fact that it was not of the necessary quality for the site - post in haste, repent at leisure!

The pixelated brush strokes behind the baby is an oof branch on a bush and the elephant leg is the tail of the mom being used to hold junior in place, like a seat back. I post the RAW file of the original photo - converted to jpeg, reduced and colour spaced at sRGB - and in addition a further effort, using my limited post processing skills, to post at least a slightly better version - although I can see there are still issues!

RAW Version - out of camera

A Redo - though I seem to have messed up the Green channel somehow!

I really like this shot as a very natural view into this Mom's daily life. Your last posting is very good, with the exception of the mentioned green, and what looks like a little too much smoothing.

Being a visual person more than a writer, I offer my version produced from your RAW shot. In it I set the black point and then worked the lighting sliders and some selective dodging and burning. I hope you don't mind.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad that you found the redo more acceptable - I shouls have been more careful at the beginning!

Hey Mike.

Thanks for this. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. I don't mind at all that you posted a version from my RAW. Not a problem at all! I still don't know what I did to produce the green, though I did do something in the green channel. Anyway it doesn't appear in your version which looks the better for it!
